This event comprises an interesting package of activities that will whet your appetite as we approach the end of the year.
We have organised a private visit to the Farnborough Air Sciences Trust (FAST) museum which has an extensive display of static historic aircraft plus fascinating exhibits reflecting the technological development of human machine interfaces and personal protective equipment that has evolved since the birth of aviation. The tour will begin at 10:30 and end at 12:00.
After the visit to the museum, we’ll move to Trenchard House where CIEHF Fellow, John Ridd of JRP Ergonomics, will give a presentation on his role as an expert witness. This will provide an interesting insight into interactions with the legal eagles. John has over 30 years of experience working in ergonomics and health & safety, carrying out training, consultancy and research into musculoskeletal disorders. As an independent consultant, John has worked for a wide range of clients across a range of sectors including Government organisations, banking & commerce, utilities, food & drinks industry, retail and manufacturing.
Trenchard House, a Grade II listed building was built in 1907 as the headquarters of No 1 (Airship) Company of the Air Battalion of the Royal Engineers, later No 1 Squadron of the Royal Flying Corps. In 1914 it became the temporary headquarters of Lord Trenchard when he was appointed Officer Commanding the Military Wing of the Royal Flying Corps.
Finally at 13:00, we will enjoy Christmas lunch at The Swan, which is next door to the FAST museum. Occupying a charming building of historical interest, The Swan dates back to the 19th century.
The CIEHF-subsidised cost, including entry to the FAST museum, the presentation and a 2 or 3 course lunch, will be £18.
